A conversation that Caleb and I had on our way to the zoo this morning:
C: Momma?
M: Yes, Babe.
C: Why does God not get sprayed by the skunks?
M: Hmmm... Okay, this was not the first time that I had been posed with a very random, thought-provoking question by my extremely inquisitive first born. However, this one totally caught me off guard. We have had a lot of conversations about God lately (but not about skunks, so that part is what threw me off). Many of our discussions have included questions from Caleb, such as "Where is heaven?", "Are there firefighters in hell to fight the fire?", "What does God look like?". I try to answer his questions as best I can, but my usual response is simply, "I don't know, buddy." Today, however, after pondering an appropriate answer to this question, I chose my best parental default answer:
M: Why do you think that God does not get sprayed by the skunks?
C: (not missing a beat) Because He's God, Momma.
Great answer, Buddy!!
And in the next breath, he went on to say:
C: There sure are a lot of words that come out of my mouth.
M: I know, baby.
No truer words were ever spoken!

(Okay, I deleted my first comment because I saw that it said Danny commented - Sorry!)
Anyway...
That's hilarious. Great dialog! I love the funny things our boys say.
That is the best conversation ever.
Wow....just, wow. You gotta respect that kind of self-awareness in a 3 year old! I am so glad you have joined the blogging universe...but be careful, it will eat up your nap times before you know it!
