Home Again

Hooray!! The Odyssey is home!

At first, I thought it would be silly to post again about the van, but then after such a lengthy previous post detailing our incident, I thought it was only appropriate to follow-up. And I do owe a small retraction to the Scion (aka the box).

(To avoid total confusion, you may want to first read the earlier post, Oh, How I miss you...)

Having the van home makes mommy very happy, but daddy is a bit sad. Eric drove the box to work today and almost got a little misty-eyed when they called to tell us the van was ready to be picked up. Of course, I knew that already, as I had secretly driven by the collision center (just to take a peek at the progress) on my way to Nashville to visit Eric this morning. There it was out in front, all gleaming with its shiny new paint job and reinstalled headlight. Okay, I admit it, I have been stalking my van. I know, that is very sad. But to my credit, the collision center is on the same street we live on, so at least, I did not actually drive out of the way to do it.

Eric has become quite fond of the Scion, though, which really baffled me at first. I thought I was going to have a comrade to make funny jokes about it with, to make our time with it pass quicker. No such luck. Eric's first reaction was " It's sharp." That surprised me, because I thought we had similar car preferences. Then it hit me that of course he would love the box. After all, he drove a boxy '88 Volvo for the first four years of our marriage. I guess it is like a homecoming of sorts for him. And this new box is actually an air conditioned box. Bonus for my sweet hubby since he, for as long as I have known him, has never had a car to drive to work that has had functioning air conditioning for longer than a week. He is such a champ and never complains about it, though.

And in the Scion's defense, once Eric arrived at his office today, he called and gently explained to me why the box was so loud when I drove it. I had been driving it in the wrong gear. So, there it is...more proof that I need to further question my ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Okay, Scion, you win! The only real complaint I had about you was that you were not aesthetically pleasing to me. I am sorry that I slandered you in my previous post and judged you based on your outward appearance. If it is any consolation, if my hubby has his way, we may one day own one of your kind.
