After...
And In Between
So, if you are wondering what the Workmans were up to last weekend...well, this was it. Yay!! And Eric and I were still speaking after the massive project. It went surprisingly smoothly, but we are in no hurry to do it all again. We have about one home improvement project in us per year and this was it.
Eric and I can't take all of the credit, though. We did do all of the sanding and painting of the cabinets ourselves (thanks to the Kristin's handy dandy sander), but the countertops and sink were installed by MT Granite, thanks to a great recommendation by the Songers. Plus, Chris generously helped Eric install the new faucet and hook back up the garbage disposal and plumbing. It is great to have a functioning sink. Not to mention really great and generous friends who bless us with their skills and tools.
We still have to repaint the kitchen walls, install the hardware (if we can ever decide on which knobs/handles...who knew there were so many choices?) and hopefully, there is a new black oven and fridge in the future, too. Honey??

We have decided against doing new flooring. For one thing, the new cabinet color really compliments our existing floors. For another, we had car repairs that coincided with our renovations, so that cut our little budget nearly in half. But that is okay.
The pictures really do not do it justice. I couldn't capture the true color of the granite in the photos, because it kept coming out darker in them, but you can get the jist of it. And better yet, come check it out for yourself.

The changes really did open up our little kitchen and makes it feels much brighter. We are so happy with our the results and are content with enjoying our "new" kitchen for now. We will get to the minor kitchen projects soon.
Maybe next Spring.
