The Big Blue Nation...in Nashville

It is so good to be a Kentucky basketball fan right now!!

Yay!! The Kentucky Wildcats won their 26th SEC tournament title on March 14th right here in good ole Nashville, Tennessee!  They defeated Mississipppi State in a heart stopping, down to the wire, one-point overtime victory.  I know that sounds quite dramatic...but it was. We were ecstatic, to say the least.

If you are a true blue fan and have ridden out the last few not-so great seasons with the Cats..through the end of the Tubby era and through the short, yet turbulent Gillespie years...you know that is has been a long time coming for the Cats to be back on top.  Of course, we love them whether they are up or down...we have to, it is in our DNA and we have the blue hair to prove it. But it sure is a lot more fun to watch them when they are playing (and winning) like they have been this season.  Who would have thought last March when we didn't even make it to the Big Dance that Kentucky, in Coach Calipari's first season, would end the 2010 regular season #2 in the nation, with only two losses and go on to win their conference championship?

We decided to brave the rain and head to downtown Nashville to watch the Cats roll over the Vols in the semi-final game.  And roll they did!  It was a lot of fun walking through downtown Nashville amid the sea of blue.  If you didn't know better, you would have thought you were strolling through downtown Lexington.  Everywhere you looked, you saw a Kentucky fan.  And to the boys delight, there was even a True Blue Storm Trooper.  Blue all over the place, with a little dot of orange or red or gold, here and there.  Although Vandy is right down the road (literally, like one mile) and we were in the Vols home state, it was definitely Kentucky who had the "home court advantage," with the number of fans who came to support and cheer them on.

Unfortunately, we did not have tickets to the games, but this guy did.

However, we did have the next best thing.  We watched the game right across the street from the Bridgestone arena in the lobby of the Hilton on a big projection screen, with Meem and 200 of our closest Kentucky friends!!

What a great time!  And what a great 74-45 win for the Cats!
Kentucky is Sweet Sixteen bound and vying for their 8th National Title.  You know where you can find us tomorrow night at 9pm.
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo  Cats!!!   UK!

Have I ever mentioned that Seth knew the UK fight song before he knew his ABCs?

Maybe we are a little nuts, but I like to think it is a good kind of nuts.
