It feels like forever since I have sit down and journaled on our family's adventures. Okay, that may be a bit dramatic, since it really hasn't been that long ago, but when you are used to posting every other day or so, a couple of weeks does seem like a while.
We were in Kentucky with family for ten days over Christmas, and the past week has been spent putting our daily routine back together again. I am hoping to get caught up this weekend on blogging and share what we were up to during our extended stay in the Bluegrass state...since the boys...yes, all THREE boys will be back in Kentucky for the weekend. Caleb's very first trip to Rupp Arena to see the Wildcats play the Georgia Bulldogs is suppose to take place this weekend. And boy, is he excited! And it will be my very first weekend completely to myself since the introduction of children into my world. And boy, am I excited! Come on weather, cooperate!
At the first of the week, with all of the winter weather panic, we weren't quite sure if the boys' trip would get to happen. If you have lived in Middle Tennessee for longer than five minutes, you know that the word "snow storm" is totally perspective based. After spending three winters in Iowa, let me tell you, my definition of snow storm has changed, and it is not the same as that shared by many other southern inhabitants and the Nashville weather forecasters. But in defense of those who consider 1-2 inches of snow a snow storm, it is much more difficult to travel and manuever around down here in a few inches of snow, than in areas that are used to getting large amounts of snow. I remember one morning in Iowa waking up to over ten inches of snow and being able to easily make it to my 7:30am class, because the roads were totally clear. They are just more prepared and skilled in handling it, because it isn't such a rare occurence there. Around here, 1-2 inches can literally make the whole town shut down.
So, now we are just waiting to see if this is all the winter storm has to offer us....a light dusting, with minimal accumulation. It did, however, create a beautiful scene, as the boys and I watched the snowfall while eating lunch together. We were all hoping for a bit more accumulation, though. We did get out and play a bit in the scant snowfall. Although there was none actually on the ground, we had fun using our sticks to draw our names and images in the snow on the driveway and road. Poor Caleb tried multiple times to make snow balls, but it was a lost cause. When he would try to throw one at me, the little clump of snow would just stick to his glove, since there wasn't enough there to actually form a ball. Good try, Buddy.
Here is what we were up to today:
