The Shirt

This has been a season of many firsts for Seth.  This past week, Seth got to attend soccer camp for the first time.  He was so excited to go!  I wasn't sure how he would fare, though, for the week, since it was a three hour a day camp and Seth had never played longer than an hour at a time at a practice or a game.  He was such a champ, did very well, and couldn't wait to go back the each day.

His greatest excitement, though, did not seem to come from soccer, the water games, or the other fun activities they did at camp.  No, the highlight for Seth was getting his own soccer shirt, just like the coaches wore, at the end of the week.  I was a bit surprised by his shirt enthusiam.  There really wasn't anything fancy about the shirt; it was a simple white tee, with green lettering on it.  But to Seth, it was pretty special.  I think the fact that all of the coaches wore the same shirt all week at camp helped to up the shirt's appeal.  As soon as I picked the boys up on Monday, Seth began counting down the days until Friday, when he would possess his VERY OWN CAMP SHIRT.

They had a great week and thankfully, the weather was pretty mild until the last couple of days, when the June heat turned up.  The boys handled it well and never complained.  I appreciate how the camp kept them well hydrated and incorporated some fun water games during the day to keep them all cool, especially for Biz, since his camp was six hours each day. Of course, the popsicle at the end of the day made the heat worth it!

Biz  moved up from Little Kickers to Hot Shots this year and enjoyed the challenge.  He also relished being called "Anthony Davis" by his coaches each day, since he was always sporting his trusty UK cap.  Go Cats!

The boys learned a lot and had a lot of fun.

And received a cool soccer ball  and of course, THE SHIRT at the end.
Seth was elated!
