No! It is cool and hip...and FREE! I assured him that it would NOT be tacky and went on to solidify my case by declaring that I wouldn't be surprised to find the idea in a living simple magazine, on Pinterest, or on some cool "organizing on a dime" TV show.
I am sure none of those things actually won the case for me, but I am married to pretty good dude who more often than not, supports my creative attempts at saving a buck. He went with it and trusted my closet organization savviness.
Plus, I really did believe it would be a hit, even if I am more frugal than color coordinated. I had been wanting to get cube-like shelving for the boys' closet, because it was in serious need of a make over. We had crammed the changing table/dresser into one side of the closet to house Seth's belongings. It was never quite the right fit, since the dresser drawers couldn't fully open because there wasn't enough room. And Caleb's side had rickety wire shelving that fell apart if you accidentally breathed on it. It was just not working.
Prior to Mom's visit this past weekend, she told me that her sister, who owns a grocery, was needing to get rid of a bunch of milk crates and wondered if we could use a few to store some of the boys' toys. I almost dismissed it at first, but then genius befell me, and I had a lovely vision of a sturdy closet organization system. So, I got really excited and asked her to bring them down.
Monday was spent putting it all together. Most of the credit goes to the hubs, because I was busy getting some work done. He knew how badly I wanted this project tackled, so he took it upon himself to do the brunt of the work. Thank you, Honey!
And I, along with the rest of the Workman crew, was very pleased with the results.
Not redneck at all. (Or if you think it is, don't burst my bubble.)
(By the way, we do have closet doors. We just removed them for the photo op so a full view of our design could be showcased.)
