It was a beautiful day for a wedding. It was supposed to rain, but instead the weather could not have been more perfect. Drew and Ticia were married on September 11, in a simple, but elegant ceremony. It was followed by an all-out reception party that was just what they had invisioned...a big ole celebration of their union! It was a blast!
Drew was fifteen years old when Eric and I began dating, so it is hard for my mind to make the shift from Drew, the cute and funny little teenage boy, to Drew, the mature and grown up man...with a wife! Okay, he is still pretty funny and when he and Eric get together, they often revert back to their youth...minus the wrestling figures. I continue to be in awe of the brother relationship and I am very grateful that God allows me to witness one growing and developing in my home daily.
Alas, Drew has indeed become a man. And he has a very lovely wife. Yes, lovely, is a very good description for Ticia. We are so happy for them and so happy that they are building their marriage covenant on the rock, Jesus Christ.
Caleb didn't know he was going to have to actually walk down the aisle with a GIRL until the rehearsal. A minor detail I accidently forgot to share with him and one he was not very happy about. Although he was resistant at first, when it really counted, he was quite the gentleman and kept in step with the sweet flower girl. He did not take off and leave her in the dust like at the rehearsal. However, he did find it quite appropriate to wave to everyone as he made his way down the aisle. It was really cute. And he was really handsome. And so was my little wedding date, Sethie, who, with the promise of skittles after the ceremony, sat as quietly and still as a three year old is capable of at a fancy event.
But I must say, it was the best man who stole my heart that evening (well, he would have, if he didn't already have it).
Jeana Kate drug me out on the dance floor against my will...at first. And then we started having so much fun that I totally forgot that I couldn't dance. We had such a good time "cutting a rug" (believe it or not, Jeana had no idea what that expression meant..I am getting old) and dancing the night away with family and friends. Jeana had to explain a lot of the song lyrics and demonstrate many dance moves to me, but she didn't seem to mind. It was a lot of fun!
