Planty (as he has been affectionately named) is still surviving at the Workman home. Yes, I am surprised, too. She/He (I am not sure which) even briefly sprouted a flower, which caused much excitement around here.
Part of her survival is due to the wonderful shield that Caleb so lovingly put around her and the stick that Granny put beside of her for support. I am not sure how to tell Caleb that she will probably not make it through the first frost.
We will cross that bridge when we get to it.
