The boys were busy, busy Saturday making Valentines for their classmates and teachers. The playroom became the Valentine hub, where there was a whole lot of creating going on.
The boys had a lot of fun and since there was no glitter involved, Mom was able to keep her sanity. I admit that the annual Valentines project used to send me over the edge, but since the boys are getting older and more focused, it now goes much more smoothly and we all enjoy it more. Seth enjoys art much more than Caleb did at his age (at four, it was more like wrangling in a wild boar to get Caleb to sit down and focus on such a project), so it is always fun to see what Seth will come up with and then watch him go. Seth decided that each classmate got their own specific shaped Valentine. Caleb was a bit more uniform with his class and kept it simple with squared shaped notes for all. Both boys attached there Valentines to a pack of gummies and then...Viola!
Caleb's teacher challenged her first graders to create a unique Valentine holder for their Valentines. We brainstormed a bit, and Caleb decided that a castle turret holder would do the trick. He actually drew out a blue print of how he wanted it to look. I helped out by wrapping it for him, and he did the rest.
The boys' parties at school are suppose to be tomorrow, and while they were making Valentines, I shared with them how when I was growing up, we usually got a big snow around Valentines Day and rarely got to go to school on Valentines Day. Guess what is in the forecast for tonight? Yep, snow. Which is interesting since we have had such a mild winter, without one snowfall (beyond a dusting..where they surprisingly got the day off from school). So, we will see if they will be partying up tomorrow at school or partying it up tomorrow at home in our pjs.
Okay, dear sweet family, after over thirty Valentines, we (well, really me) did not have the energy to create any more. So, don't rush out to the mailbox this week. We're sorry.
But know that we love you and wish you a
Happy Valentines Day from Biz and Tepper!!!
