Painting Day
What have we been up to lately?
A whole LOT of sprucing up...that is what!
Our townhouse is set to go on the market this week and we have spent the past month putting a lot of extra love in to it to get it ready. It has been a lot of work, but hopefully, it will all pay off soon. We pray that God will send another person, couple, or family in our direction that our home will be completely perfect for. Please say a prayer for us. We have never sold a home before, so this is unchartered territory. We are excited and feel like we have done our very best to prepare it for its next owner.
Of course, we had a little help getting everything done. Last weekend was dedicated to painting the downstairs bedroom, closet, and bathroom. The boys were very eager to help. I was very nervous to let them near the paint. But they both proved to be good little worker bees.
Impressively good, actually.
We set them up in the closet. It was surprisingly much less stressful than I anticipated and after about a half hour, they had the painting bug out of their system and went on to play elsewhere, feeling very included and accomplished.
It was questionable whether Seth got more paint on the wall or on himself, but in the end, there was no paint on the carpet, the closet wall was covered, and there were no tears. From any of us.
A success in my book!

Love
In the car on the way home from Kentucky, Caleb informed me that he was too old to be my "love" anymore. I quickly refuted that comment and told him that he would NEVER be too old to be my love.
Never.
He did not back down from his stance and was quite adament that he was just too big for me to CALL him "love."
Caleb: "You can still give me hugs and kisses, Mom. (whew!), but I am too old to be called your love anymore."
Again, I refuted his argument, but decided not to press the issue any further. Mainly, hoping that the whole conversation would soon be forgotten, if I just let it go.
Of course, there were other little ears in the backseat that caught the entire conversation. I wasn't sure how intently he was listening until I was putting Seth to bed last night. Actually, I had already tucked him in, sung to him and prayed over him. I was just coming back in to check on him and I was met with a very sad expression and a sweet face on the verge of tears.
Seth: "Mom, I don't want to be 40 pounds."
Let me back up just a bit here. Seth has desperately been wanting to get rid of his 5-point harness car seat since the moment he turned four. BUT the law is that he must be 4 years old AND 40 lbs. to do so. We are shy of that goal about 4-5 lbs, so we talk often to our picky eater that in order for him to grow big and strong and into that booster seat, then he needs to eat his healthy food. It actually works pretty well and he is always eager to know how close he is getting to his 40 lb. goal. So....to hear him say he did NOT want to be 40 lbs. was a big surprise.
Momma: "Why don't you want to be 40 pounds, Seth?"
Seth: "Because if I get big, then I can't be your little love anymore."
Then the tears came.
Momma: "No, no, Seth. You will ALWAYS be my love. ALWAYS."
Seth: "But Biz said...."
Momma: "Yeah, I know what Biz said, but let me tell you a secret...Biz knows a lot, but he doesn't know everything. Got it?"
Seth (with a big smile and a big ole hug): "Yeah, I will be your love forever!!"
You got that right, buddy!
(and so will your big brother!)

A Picture Really is Worth 1000 Words
There are no words that could better capture the essence of our boys' personalities.
I LOVE this picture!
